Where has the time gone? It feels like we wrote our last blog update just yesterday… when in fact it’s been almost 4 months. Yikes!! Apologies on our end for taking so long to get back to you. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to all our stellar interns we took on this summer, which left us a little shorthanded to say the least. With market season coming to an end, we have had a chance to focus some of our efforts back online and we are launching our most exciting initiative to date (read until the end). 2020 has been a tough year filled with many lessons we won’t forget anytime soon. We look forward to taking all the tough lessons we have learned this year and make 2021 one to remember too… for the opposite reasons ;)
Safety, safety, safety!! If there is anyone you would want in charge of safely handling your food through this pandemic, it is definitely Clinton and Bruno. They have done an incredible job of not only keeping up with all the health and safety requirements, but staying one step ahead of the curve. Clinton’s background in healthcare administration sure has been helpful during these crazy times!
Mikaela is back! She was off working on an impressive sustainability project with the government of Israel - feel free to ask her about it. She'll be happy to share. We are excited to have her back in a more senior role as our Director of Sales and Sustainability.
The circular economy has been getting increasing attention lately… YAY!! Marc and Mikaela have both been increasingly involved with speaking engagements within the local community and with many academic groups. We look forward to all the positive changes the circular economy will bring to the Vancouver community over the coming years.
Speaking of speaking engagements – are you interested in learning more about Susgrainable? E@ubc has an upcoming Venture Showcase on December 10th where Marc will be speaking about Susgrainable and its future. Sign up here to learn more – it promises to be a fun day.
It’s baking season!! With cooler weather, we’ve seeing a rise in baking mix sales. Makes sense with baking being a great way to deal with stress and anxiety! While OG is still the most popular, it seems many people may have bananas chilling in the freezer, based on our recent banana bread mix sales spike. If you find yourself with those extra bananas and haven't tried it yet, there's no better time than now. Check out the Susgrainable Shop to see why and stock up on your favorite mixes for the colder winter months.
While adding new retailers was not a top priority this year, we could not leave our Squamish Farmers’ Market fans without access to our cookies. You can now find our Animal Lover cookie at RideHub along with delicious coffee and great bike services.
Make sure to catch us at the Squamish Farmers’ Market on December 5th for their special Christmas market. We plan on having a little something special for the holidays so make sure to stop by. Remember to practice safe social distancing and listen to market staff to make sure it’s a safe experience for all!
